SlideRocket Tips and Tricks to Help "Make an Impact"

SlideRocket presentations can be shared through: Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, emails, blogs, newsletters, or embedding into websites, and more. Included are several tips to use your presentations to make an impact on your target audience.

 

This document covers

 

 

Spreading the Word

In order to share a presentation link with the public, it must first be made public. Once it is public, use the Get public link or Get embed code options to share your presentation in an email or post it to a blog or website


Sharing a Public Link

    1. In Presentation Library
      1. Double-click presentation
      2. Click Share tab 
      3. Click Publish tab
    2. This can also be accessed from Presentation Editor
      1. Click Share menu 
      2. Select Publish...
    3. Check This presentation is public
    4. Click Apply Changes

    5. Click Get public link... or Get embed code...
      • Click Get public link... Link to share with others to view presentation
      • Get embed code... HTML code to insert SlideRocket presentation into website or blog. For more information about embedding a presentation in website or blog click here
    6. Click Copy link... or Copy code... depending on where presentation is being shared

  1. Import image of Twitter logo
    1. From Presentation Library, click Media to open Media Library
    2. Click Import Media
    3. Select picture of Twitter logo
    4. Click Open
  2. Open presentation in Presentation Editor 
  3. Click Picture icon tips3.png
  4. Select Twitter logo 
  5. Click Add Media
  6. Click Tools and select Hyperlink…
  7. Select Open URL:
    1. Open another tab and go to: http://clicktotweet.com/
    2. Copy your presentation’s Public Link and paste in Generate Link! box
    3. Copy Here’s your URL link 
  8. Paste new link into SlideRocket hyperlink Open URL: box 
  9. Click OK

  1. Import image of Facebook logo
    1. From Presentation Library, click Media to open Media Library
    2. Click Import Media
    3. Select picture of Facebook logo
    4. Click Open
  2. Open presentation in Presentation Editor 
  3. Click Picture icon tips3.png
  4. Select Facebook logo 
  5. Click Add Media
  6. Click Tools and select Hyperlink…
  7. Select Open URL:
    1. Open another tab and go to: http://meyerweb.com/eric/tools/dencoder/
    2. Copy your presentation’s Public Link and paste in Generate Link! box
    3. Click Encode button
    4. Copy encoded URL 
    5. Paste encoded URL after equal sign here: http://www.facebook.com/sharer/sharer.php?u= (your encoded link here)
  8. Copy entire new URL
  9. Paste new link into SlideRocket hyperlink Open URL: box 
  10. Click OK

 

 

Embedding an Email Button tips6.png

  1. Import image of email
    1. From Presentation Library, click Media to open Media Library
    2. Click Import Media
    3. Select picture of email button
    4. Click Open
  2. Open presentation in Presentation Editor 
  3. Click Picture icon tips3.png
  4. Select email image 
  5. Click Add Media
  6. Click Tools and select Hyperlink…
  7. Select type of hyperlink: Open URL: 
  8. Type: mailto:(your email) 

 

 

Embedding a Presentation on a Website

  1. In Presentation Library
    1. Double-click presentation
    2. Click Share tab 
    3. Click Publish tab
  2. This can also be accessed from Presentation Editor
    1. Click Share menu 
    2. Select Publish...
  3. If This presentation is public is not selected, select it and click Apply Changes
  4. Get embed code… This is the HTML code to insert SlideRocket presentations into websites or blogs. For more information about embedding a presentation in a website or blog click here

  6. Click Copy code...
  7. Click Close
  8. Paste embed code into website HTML

Adding a YouTube Video to a Slide

  1. Open presentation in Presentation Editor
  2. Click Video icon video2.png
  3. Click YouTube tab
  4. Paste full, direct URL of YouTube video into box
  5. Click Add Media 

 

Adding Pictures to a Slide

  1. Open presentation in Presentation Editor
  2. Click Picture icon tips3.png
  3. Select picture from following locations
    • My Library: All pictures already imported into SlideRocket
    • Marketplace: Searchable database of stock pictures that can be purchased
    • Flickr: Searchable database of all pictures posted publicly on Flickr
    • Import Media: Upload picture from computer
  4. Click Add Media

  

Adding Media to a Slide

Audio adds another element that holds the reader’s attention and makes a presentation more interactive. For more information on Audio click here.

 

Adding a Presentation Soundtrack

  1. Open presentation in Presentation Editor 
  2. Click File  
  3. Click Presentation Settings… 
  4. Click Select… to open Media Library
  5. In Media Library
    1. Double-click file already in Media Library
    2. Click Import Media to upload file from computer
  6. Click Ok 

 

 

Adding Audio to a Slide

Audio files can be added to a slide from the Media Library or uploaded from a computer. 

  1. Click Audio icon tips11.png to open Slide Audio Panel  
  2. Click Add audio… button tips12.png to open Media Library
    • Trial and Business level users who have Wait for Click builds on the slide will see a pop-up warning that all Wait for Click builds will be set to start automatically. This is to allow users to sync builds to the audio. Click Yes to set builds to start automatically and continue
  3. From Media Library
    1. Double-click file already in Media Library
    2. Click Import Media to import file into SlideRocket
  4. Click Ok

    1. Open presentation in Presentation Editor

Recording Audio to a Slide

  1. Click Audio icon tips11.png to open Slide Audio Panel  
  2. Click Record button tips15.png
  3. If this is first time recording audio after logging in, there will be pop-up from Adobe Flash Player asking for permission to access computer microphone. Click Allow to give permission

  4. If the computer has more than one microphone, primary microphone must be selected. Click on microphone tab and select a primary microphone from drop-down menu

  5. Click Start Recording tips18.png
    • If there are already builds in slide, a pop-up will appear asking if you want to synchronize your builds. Click Yes to synchronize builds while recording. Click the mouse each time you would like a build to animate. After recording, all builds will synchronize automatically with audio. Builds can be synchronized again at a later time 
  6. Recording will begin after 3-second countdown
  7. When finished, click Stop Recording tips19.png

 

 

Engaging the Audience

Another option to keep your audience interested is to customize the way a slide or element enters and leaves the screen. Adding builds and effects can quickly change the look and feel of a slide and overall presentation. Once a build is added to an element, click the Preview button tips20.png to see if it conveys the right impression you wanted to leave on your reader. Effects can be viewed instantly when added.

 

Fade In/Fade Out Effect

  1. Select element on slide
  2. Click Animations tab in Element Properties Panel
  3. Click Add Build button tips21.png
  4. Select Fade from Builds drop-down menu
  5. Select In from Direction drop-down menu
  6. Select Automatically from Start drop-down menu
  7. Make sure element is still selected
  8. Click Add Build button tips21.png. This is an additional build 
  9. Select Fade from Builds drop-down menu
  10. Select Out from Direction drop-down menu
  11. Select Automatically from Start drop-down menu

 

 

Slide Transitions

Transition time by default is 2 seconds. Increase or decrease the seconds to change the viewer’s experience. 

 

Some examples of transitions and uses

  • CubeRotate: Looking at a different perspective
  • Push: Connecting images to make several slides look like one big canvas
  • Crossfade: Presenting a new idea

Scale-In Build “From Back”

  1. Select element on slide
  2. Click Animations tab in Element Properties Panel
  3. Click Add Build button tips21.png
  4. Select Scale from Builds drop-down menu
  5. Select In from Direction drop-down menu
  6. Select Automatically from Start drop-down menu
  7. Click Options tab
    • Select From Back in Direction drop-down menu

 

 

Adding an Effect

SlideRocket users can add Effects to draw attention to a particular element or to augment the overall visuals of a slide. Effects enhance a presentation similar to the way special effects enhance a movie. Each effect has its own set of customization options. For more information on Effects click here.
