Duplicate and Save As

SlideRocket users can use the Duplicate feature to make an exact copy of a presentation, library slide, slide group, or theme.

Files can easily be duplicated and will retain all the properties of the original file. A file can be duplicated when creating a new presentation or from within an existing presentation. The new copy will have all of the same layouts, backgrounds and default styles as the original. Any edits made to the duplicate will not affect the original file.

The Save As feature can also be used to make an exact copy of a presentation from within the Presentation Editor.

Duplicating a Slide

Library slides can be duplicated from the Slide Library. Both library slides and regular slides can be duplicated from the Presentation Editor. If a library slide is duplicated in the Presentation Editor the duplicate will not be a library slide. Any changes made to a duplicate slide will not affect the original slide or any presentations containing the original slide.

Duplicating Library Slide in Slide Library

  1. From Slide Library, right-click slide
  2. Select Duplicate...
  3. Select folder where presentation will be saved
  4. Type name for duplicate slide into Save as: field
  5. Click Ok

Duplicating Slide from Presentation Editor

Duplicating a slide in the Presentation Editor places the duplicate in the next sequential spot in the presentation.

  1. Click slide in Slide Tray
  2. Select Duplicate Slide from Slide menu or right-click slide and select Duplicate...

ADVANCED NOTE: Users can also use copy and paste to create a duplicate of a slide. Once a slide has been copied, it can be pasted into the current presentation or another presentation.

Duplicating a Slide Group

Slide Groups can only be duplicated from the Slide Library. The duplicate slide group will be a unique copy and any changes made to it will not affect the original slide group or any presentations using the original.

  1. From Slide Library, right-click slide group
  2. Select Duplicate...
  3. Select folder where presentation will be saved
  4. Type name for duplicate slide group into Save as: field
  5. Click Ok

Duplicating a Theme

Themes can be duplicated from the Theme Library. The duplicate will have all of the same layouts, backgrounds, and default styles as the original. Any edits made to the duplicate will not affect the original theme.

  1. From Theme Library right-click theme
  2. Select Duplicate...
  3. Select folder where presentation will be saved
  4. Type name for duplicate slide group into Save as: field
  5. Click Ok

Save As

Save As lets a user save a copy of a presentation from within the Presentation Editor. Save As differs from the Duplicate feature in that there is no option to break links to library slides. When a presentation is copied using Save As, links to library slides will always be preserved. A copy of a presentation can only be created using Save As if the user has edit permissions for the presentation. Otherwise, the presentation can be copied using the Duplicate feature.

Creating Presentation Copy using Save As

  1. From within presentation select Save As from File menu
  2. Select folder where presentation will be saved
  3. Type name for presentation copy into Save as: field
  4. Click Ok
    duplicate5.png

ADVANCED NOTE: The Save As option becomes available in the File menu after the presentation has been saved for the first time. Before that the option will appear gray.
