SlideRocket users can add Effects to draw attention to a particular element or to augment the overall visuals of a slide. Effects enhance a presentation similar to the way special effects enhance a movie.

 

This document covers

 

 

Adding an Effect

  1. Click element on slide canvas
  2. Click Effects tab in Element Properties Panel
  3. Click Add Effect…
  4. Select effect

 

ADVANCED NOTE: Multiple effects can be added to the same element. It is recommended to not add more than two effects as that can severely impact performance. Not all effects can be used on all element types.

 

 

Deleting an Effect

  1. Click element on slide canvas
  2. Click Effects tab in Element Properties Panel
  3. Click Delete button 
     

 

 

Customizing an Effect

Each effect has its own set of customization options.

 

 

 

  • Distance: Offset distance for shadow in pixels
  • Angle: Direction from element effect appears
  • Blur: Quality of effect
  • Color: Open ColorPicker to select shade effect appears
  • Opacity: Set how transparent effect appears
  • Inner shadow: Check box turns on effect inside of element
  • Knockout: Check box makes object's fill transparent and reveals background color, leaving outline for effect
  • Quality: Set strength of effect to Low, Medium, or High

  

 

  • Color: Open ColorPicker to select shade effect appears
  • Opacity: Set how transparent effect appears
  • Blur: Quality of effect
  • Strength: Set much of effect appears
  • Inner filter: Check box turns on effect inside of element
  • Knockout: Check box makes object's fill transparent and reveals background color, leaving outline for effect
  • Quality: Set strength of effect to Low, Medium, or High

  • Shadow Color: Open ColorPicker to select shade shadow appears

  • Knockout: Check box makes object's fill transparent and reveals background color, leaving outline for effect
  • Quality: Set strength of effect to Low, Medium, or High

  

 

  • BlurX: Set amount of horizontal blur
  • BlurY: Set amount of vertical blur
  • Quality: Set strength of effect to Low, Medium, or High

 

  

  • Amount: How strong effect appears
  • Distance: How far effect is displayed
  • Offset: How close effect is to element

 

  

  • Brightness: Lighten darken element
  • Contrast: Increase sharpness of image
  • Hue: Set color tones
  • Saturation: Set how much color is applied

 

ADVANCED NOTE: Setting the Saturation to 0 changes images to black and white.

  

 

There are 5 Preset Styles from which to select.

  • Matte Frame: Create traditional-style frame around element
  • Taped: Add mat behind element and four pieces of tape in corner
  • Polaroid: Add Polaroid-style frame
  • Torn Edges: Add ripped edges
  • Custom: Allow mix of above effects to create unique border

 

Users can also customize the Preset Styles or create an entirely new border using the following options.

  • Show Frame: Check box turns on frame outside of effect
    • Frame Color: Open ColorPicker to select shade of frame
    • Thickness: Determine how thick frame is displayed
    • Bevel Frame: Check box adds bevel effect to frame
  • Show Backing: Check box displays mat behind element that is slightly larger than element
    • Border Size: Open ColorPicker to select size of mat’s border
    • Backing Color: Open ColorPicker to select shade of mat
  • Show Shadow: Check box displays shadow under frame
    • Height: Set how far shadow appears under frame
  • Corner Style: Set Tape, Frame or Pin effects in corners of frame
    • Offset: How close to center Corner Styles appear
    • Scale: How large Corner Styles appear
  • Border Style: Set border around image in either Torn, Distress, Polaroid or Ektachrome
    • Scaling: How large and how close to center Border Style appears

 

 

There are no customizations for the Aqua effect.

 

ADVANCED NOTEAqua effect cannot be used with charts.

 

 

  • Direction: Set direction wind blows flag
    • Center
    • Right
    • Left
    • Up
    • Down
  • Wind 1: Set speed of horizontal wind
  • Wind 2: Set speed of vertical wind

 

ADVANCED NOTEFlag feature cannot be used with charts.

 

 

  • Color: Open ColorPicker to select shade effect appears
  • Interval: How fast rings appear on slide
  • Life: How long rings stay on slide
  • Thickness: Determine how thick ring is displayed
  • Horizontal Position: Move Sonar center side-to-side
  • Vertical Position:  Move Sonar center up and down

 

ADVANCED NOTESonar effect is not optimized for combining with other effects. Adding other effects to an element that already uses Sonar is not recommended.
