SlideRocket supports videos in FLV (Flash) and MP4 format. Other video formats will be converted to MP4 format during import. Video formats that can be converted on import are: AVI, MOV, WMV, MPG, MPEG, ASF, 3GP, M4V, and VOB. The dimensions and frame rate of converted videos will be the same as the original version. The maximum file size limit for imported videos is 200 MB for Pro and Enterprise users and 100 MB for Lite users. Keep in mind that larger files take longer to load and can slow down the performance of the presentation.

Importing a Video into SlideRocket

  1. From Media Library click Import Media
  2. Select video file from computer
  3. Click Open
  4. If video is FLV or MP4 format it will begin uploading and no further action is needed. If video is MOV, AVI, WMV, MPG, MPEG, ASF, 3GP, M4V, or VOB format, SlideRocket will automatically convert video during import

  5. Click Ok

ADVANCED NOTE: Checking the option Don’t show this message again will hide the video encoding message for future imports.

Adding a Video to a Slide

Videos can be accessed by clicking the Video icon video2.png in the Element Toolbar, located on the left-hand side of the canvas within the Presentation Editor. Changes can also be made to Library Slides and Slide Groups using the Slide Editor. Once on the slide, each video is customizable.

  1. Open presentation in Presentation Editor
  2. Click Video icon video2.png
  3. Select video from Media Library or click Import Media to upload video
  4. Click Add Media

ADVANCED NOTE: If the Media Library is exited before the video encoding is complete, the video will be added to the Media Library but not to the slide.

Customizing Video Playback and Appearance

Once the video is on the slide, click it to open the Element-Specific Properties tab to customize the appearance and playback of a video.

Volume

Sets the volume of the video by dragging the slider, entering a number into the box, or using the up and down arrows. This setting only determines the volume of the video when it is played in the Presentation Editor.

Advanced Options

  • Smoothing: Set video smoothing to improve visual quality on scaled videos. This setting may impact playback performance
  • Transparent background: Set whether video should have transparent background. This setting is only applicable for FLV videos containing an alpha channel
  • Buffer: Set number of seconds video should buffer, or preload, before it begins to play. Users may need to set this number higher if they have a large video and a slow Internet connection
