SlideRocket presentations can be downloaded as PDF files which can then be printed. The PDF download is optimized for printing and does not include interactive features such as hyperlinks. When creating a presentation it is important to decide whether this presentation is for printing or for playing online. The features that allow for the best print quality often are the same features that slow presentations when playing online.

A presentation can be printed from 3 different locations: Presentation Dashboard, Presentation Editor, and Full Player.

Optimizing Presentations for Printing

Picture Resolution

For printing, high resolution pictures are the best. The highest resolution SlideRocket supports is 1920x1920. Any assets uploaded over this resolution will be compressed.

Video

Videos in presentations intended for printing must have a thumbnail added in the Media Library. The thumbnail will be shown when the presentation is printed. If there is not a thumbnail added, the video will print as a black box.

To set thumbnail

  1. Click Media tab from Presentation Library
  2. Click Videos button videos.png to filter by video (Optional)
  3. Click desired video to open its Media Dashboard
  4. Video will automatically start playing. Click Set Thumbnail when desired frame is in view

Flash Files

(SWF)

SWF files are Flash animation files, and are distinct from FLV’s, which are Flash video files. SWF files in presentations must have a thumbnail added in the Media Library. This thumbnail will be shown when the presentation is printed, otherwise the SWF will not print. If the SWF file contains a transparency, the transparent areas will print as black.

To set thumbnail

  1. Click Media tab from Presentation Library
  2. Click Flash tab to filter by SWFs (Optional)
  3. Click desired SWF to open its Media Dashboard
  4. SWF will automatically start playing. Click Set Thumbnail when desired frame is in view

ADVANCED NOTES:

  • YouTube Videos: YouTube video will print as black box
  • Printer Resolution: Printer has higher resolution than monitor. This can cause elements to appear clear when you look at them online, but fuzzy when printed
