Text added to a SlideRocket presentation can be customized several ways.

Adding Text to a Slide

There are 3 elements that text can be added to a slide.

  • Placeholder Box: Double-click placeholder box and start typing
  • Text Box: Click Text icon Screen_Shot_2013-04-19_at_1.15.45_PM.png in Element Toolbar left of canvas, then click slide where text box should appear. Once text box has been placed on slide, double-click text box and type
  • Shape: Click Shape icon Screen_Shot_2013-04-19_at_1.08.49_PM.png, select type of shape, then click slide where shape should appear. Double-click shape and start typing. For more information on creating and customizing shapes click here


ADVANCED NOTES:
  • In addition to using the Presentation Editor, text can be changed on Library Slides and Slide Groups using the Slide Editor
  • Users can use soft returns (shift-return) for a line break and hard returns (return) for a paragraph break

 


Selecting Text

Users can apply customizations to an entire text or placeholder box or to selected text within the box. 

  • Click once on text or placeholder box to select entire box. Any customizations made while entire text or placeholder box is selected will be applied to all text within box. When entire text or placeholder box is selected it is outlined in blue

  • Double-click text or placeholder box and then click and drag the cursor to select text within box. Any customizations made will only be applied to selected text. When only part of text in text or placeholder box is selected, box is outlined in orange and selected text is highlighted

Setting Text to Autofit

The Text Autofit setting determines how text interacts with text box or shape. There are three possible settings.

  • Resize to fit text: Text box or shape will resize so text fills it completely
  • Shrink text to fit: Text will shrink so that it fits into text box or shape
  • Do not autofit: Neither text box, shape, or text will resize

 

Customizing Text

SlideRocket functions for customizing text are divided into two menus, the Font menu and the Spacing menu, each with its own set of related functions. Click the links below to go to that section of the guide.

Changing the Font Family 

  1. Select some or all text in text box
  2. Click Font Family pull-down menu Screen_Shot_2013-04-19_at_1.20.35_PM.png to open Select Font menu 
  3. Select Font Collection and then Font. Selected text will automatically update with new font

  4. Click Close button delete audio.png or anywhere outside Select Font menu to exit menu and leave new font

  

ADVANCED NOTES:

  • When fonts are used in a SlideRocket presentation, the fonts are embedded directly in the presentation and will display the same on all operating systems and browsers. Viewers of the presentation do not need to have the font installed on their own computers

Changing the Font Face

Font Face can be set using Font Face pull-down menu.

Font Face can also be set using following buttons.

Changing Text Color

  1. Select some or all text in text or placeholder box
  2. Click Text Color icon Screen_Shot_2013-04-19_at_1.23.21_PM.png to pull up ColorPicker
  3. From ColorPicker, click one color swatch or use advanced color selection options (for more information about these options click here)

  4. Click close button  or anywhere outside of ColorPicker to exit menu

  

Changing the Font Size

There are 3 ways to change size of selected font.

  • Select number from Font Size pull-down menu
  • Increase Font Size Screen_Shot_2013-04-19_at_1.25.21_PM.png and Decrease Font Size Screen_Shot_2013-04-19_at_1.25.32_PM.png buttons  

  

Changing Text to Superscript or Subscript

Setting the Text Alignment

ADVANCED NOTES: 

  • If the entire text box is selected, the horizontal alignment will be applied to all paragraphs in the text box. If part of text within text box is selected, horizontal text alignment will only be applied to paragraph(s) containing selected text
  • Vertical text alignment can only be applied if Do not autofit is selected under Text Autofit. Otherwise text or placeholder box will automatically resize so there is no extra vertical space  

 

 

Setting the Bullet Style for a List

  1. Enter one or more lines of text in text or placeholder box
  2. Click Bullet Style icon Screen_Shot_2013-04-19_at_1.30.26_PM.png to pull up Bullet Style Menu 
  3. Click type of bullet to apply it to list
    • Bulleted List: Point and sub-points will be disc bullets
    • Numbered List: Point and sub-points will be numbers
    • None: Removes any bullets and numbers from list
  4. The menu will automatically close after type of bullet is selected

 

ADVANCED NOTE: A bullet style can be applied to an empty text or placeholder box. Any text entered after will have that bullet style.

 

 

Setting the Indent Level

Click Decrease Indent Level Screen_Shot_2013-04-19_at_1.30.38_PM.png and Increase Indent Level Screen_Shot_2013-04-19_at_1.30.43_PM.png buttons to set indentation of a line of text. The indent level can be changed for both plain text and list items.

 

Changing the Font Casing

Use Font Casing drop-down menu to change all text to uppercase or lowercase.

Spacing

 

Character Spacing

Set spacing between characters in pixels using increase and decrease arrows by typing value in box or by dragging slider.

Line Spacing

Set spacing between lines in pixels using increase and decrease arrows, by typing value into box, or by dragging slider.

 

 

Setting the Paragraph Indent

Set indentation of first line in paragraph by clicking increase or decrease arrow buttons or by typing number into box.

 

 

ADVANCED NOTE: If the entire text or placeholder box is selected, the new paragraph indent will be applied to all paragraphs in the box. If part of the text within the text or placeholder box is selected, the new paragraph indent will only be applied to the paragraph(s) containing the highlighted text.

  

Setting the Paragraph Spacing

Set spacing between paragraphs in text or placeholder box by clicking increase or decrease arrow buttons or by typing number into box.

  • Set spacing before each selected paragraph
  • Set spacing after each selected paragraph

 

ADVANCED NOTE: If the entire text or placeholder box is selected, the new spacing will be applied to all the paragraphs in the box. If part of the text within the text or placeholder box is selected, the new spacing will only be applied to the paragraph(s) containing the highlighted text.

 

 

Setting the Paragraph Inset

Set inset for paragraphs by clicking increase and decrease arrow buttons or by typing number into box.

  • Set left inset for each selected paragraph
  • Set right inset for each selected paragraph

 

Setting the Paragraph Margins

Set margin for one or more paragraphs in text or placeholder box by clicking increase or decrease arrow buttons or by typing number into box.

  • Set top margin for each selected paragraph
  • Set bottom margin for each selected paragraph
  • Set left margin for each selected paragraph
  • Set right margin for each selected paragraph

 

Tab Stop

Click on Tab Stop to manually set horizontal positions to align text on the slide.

  • Start: Text is extended to right of tab
  • Center: Text is centered in middle of tab
  • End: Text is extended to left of tab
  • Decimal: Text is extended to left of tab before decimal point and right of tab after decimal point

 

Word Wrap

If Word wrap is checked, lines of text are automatically split so that they fit in text or placeholder box.

 

Kerning

If Kerning is checked, then placement of characters will be automatically adjusted to minimize white space been characters. If Kerning is not checked, all characters will be same distance apart.

Default settings for text boxes such as font, size and color can be set under the theme default styles under File > Edit Theme.

If I'm doing a long presentation, can I save or set the font, font size and color so I don't have to manually change it each time I copy and paste new text?
